Saturday, March 14th the Town of Orono will be celebrating Orono's 214th birthday and Maine's bicentennial in one big celebration.

March 14th has been dubbed 'Community Dinner Day' by the State of Maine and towns across the state will be celebrating the day with a dinner for their communities.  Combining all of these celebrations together will make for a momentous occasion in the university town.  Here's what's in store for this special day!

Schedule of events:

3 PM - 4 PM:

Maine Author Mac Smith "Mainers on the Titanic" at the Council Chambers

4 PM - 6 PM:

At Stone Manor, check out 'Taste of Orono', which showcases Orono's culinary and brewing delights, the Orono Historical Society Open House, including items from the Society's vast collection, and the Oral History Project

6 PM - 8:30 PM:

Family Dance at the Keith Anderson Community House

7:30 PM:

Fireworks in Downtown Orono
