Here are 4 special events we can all look forward to to celebrate Maine's 200th birthday this year!

An afternoon of speeches, music, poems and... birthday cake!  Yum! Speakers from all over the state will be attending including members of our congressional delegation, Penobscot Nation, our State Historian and Poet Laureate as well as music from a live orchestra and choir.

A parade that will be celebrating the people of Maine and showcase the cultures, landmarks and history that exist in the state as well as  with floats, guests and bands.

This festival will begin in Boothbay Harbor on June 26th and will travel for a few weeks to various locations along the Maine coast that will include land activities and dockside access for the public.  Here's the schedule:

  • Rockland, July 2nd - 4th
  • Bangor/Brewer, July 8th - 10th
  • Bucksport, July 10th - 12th
  • Castine/Searsport/Belfast, July 12th - 14th

The Parade of Sail will wrap up the festival on July 16th in Portland.

The ceremony to seal an official State of Maine BIcentennial Time Capsule will be at the Maine State Library in Augusta with those attending the March 15th birthday bash invited to participate as "capsule keepers".  More details on this event coming soon.
