X 1991 - Pearl Jam
The Seattle grunge group hits it big with the release of their debut album Ten. The album rips them through the mainstream and puts them at the forefront of the grunge rock movement.
2002 - Nelly
The pop charts love Nelly and continues to love up on him with his song 'Dilemma' reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's success could also be attributed to featuring Destiny Child's Kelly Rowland.
X 2004 - Green Day
Pop punk rockers release the title track of their new album American Idiot. The album revives their career with multiple hits, Grammy nominations and even inspires a successful Broadway musical.
X 2004 - Jet
The one-hit wonder Australian band win the award for Best Rock Video at the MTV Video Music Awards with "Are You Gonna Be My Girl".
X 2004 - OutKast
OutKast is on the wins Video of the Year at the MTV Video Awards with "Hey Ya", just telling it to us straight and giving us a great visual on how one should actually "shake it".
X 2016 - Beyoncé
MTV Award season continues this week in pop music history with Queen Bey winning Video of the Year with her super social conscious "Formation". She goes on to collect 7 more awards and continues to rule the world.
