With an amazing 25-year run on morning television, broadcasting legend Al Roker is breaking records, with a little help from The Pine Tree State.

The 5th annual “Rokerthon” was part of the Today show Monday on NBC, and it featured one the guys who brings Mainers the weather each morning on News Center Maine, on WLBZ Channel 2, here in Bangor.

Rokerthon 2021 took place at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park, where he set a Guinness World Record for the most people in an online weather reporting relay with 63. The number to beat was 50, and each local weatherman 60-seconds to do the forecast before handing things off to the next in line. News Center Maine's Ryan Breton was part of the fun, as he did his part in help setting the record Live from Portland Head Light, in Cape Elizabeth.

Roker has set records before, he previously set one for the fastest time to do a forecast from all 50 U.S.states, and also a record for the most people in a virtual sandwich making relay.

I think we need to figure out a way to get The Z Morning Show and WABI TV-5 weather dude, Todd Simcox into the Guniness Book Of World Records too, the possibilities are endless. Although Todd may be content with his title of “Salsa King of New England”. Seems to be working for him so far.

If you have a little time to kill today, here is the entire Rokerthon 2021, in all of its 3 hour glory!
