Saturday August 10th, while the town of Hampden Celebrates it's 225th birthday, folks will also be celebrating the 40th Anniverary of Hampden Children's Day!

The festivities will kick off at 10:45 at the Reeds Brook Middle School, with the Craig T. McBean Memorial Fun Run, for kids up to grade 8. Registration for that, and lineup for the Children's Parade start at 9:30.

Following the Fun Run at 10:45, will be the Children's Parade at 11. And then the Children's Events will start up Noon at the Weatherbee School.

If your kiddos like animals, they're gonna dig the Pony Express Rides and the petting zoo, with alpacas, goats, donkeys and zebu! There will also be an exotic pet show.

There will be a cake walk and pie eating contest, opportunities to hula-hoop, limbo and line-dance with Flamin' Raymin and Sizzlin Suzzin, dance demonstrations, a mini-monster-truck and stunt show and plenty of stuff to eat and drink, with food trucks on hand.

In the evening, the kids will get a chance to dance some more, to the sounds of "Souled Out" until the fireworks show starts up around 9.

The Hampden Neighborhood Food Cupboard will be on hand at the Weatherbee School, taking donations from 12-4.

Organizers say they are still looking for a few volunteers to help out that day. For more information or for a full lineup of times and events, you can visit their Facebook page here.
