The Associated Press and Bangor Daily News is reporting that Maine is set to receive $1 million in settlement with Equifax.

In July 2017, there was a massive breach for the credit reporting company that exposed 150 million people's social security numbers, of which included those of 500,000 Mainers. This sensitive information can be used in identify theft.

This means you are likely to be owed some money. So, where do you find that out?

An article form Lifelock.com helps you figure out the next steps which include either calling the Equifax call center at 866-447-7559 or visiting the 'Equifax Security Incident' webpage.

The website isn't quite useable yet since the settlement just transpired and a court order is needed. The webpage, however, seems to be anticipating receiving the court order soon and information to be available. The webpage states, "Please check back in the coming days for more information, to find out whether you may be eligible for relief, and to file a claim."
