Local Nite Show host and former Z On-Air Personality, Danny Cashman, visited the Z107.3 studio yesterday to chat about a program to help kids develop the love of reading across the State of Maine.

Dan Cashman and spouse Karen Cashman co-founded the program 'Dirigo Reads' with the initiative to have a new book in the hands of all of Maine's first graders each month of the school year.

The organization is starting with a few schools now but looking to broaden to all schools in Maine.

Here is the audio from Dan's visit with Kid and Sarah on the Z107.3's Z Morning Show on Tuesday

The first book will be given out in September to schools in Brewer, Caribou, Castine, Dover-Foxcroft, Madison and Machias.  The first book first graders can look forward to will be Oliver by Syd Hoff.

Keep up with the Cashman's initiative by visiting the Dirigo Reads website and follow Dirigo Reads on Facebook.

If you are a business or organization interested in helping support Dirigo Reads, visit the website's contact page to get the conversation started or visit the website's 'donate' page.
