Downeast Maine and Greater Bangor area should be very careful later tonight and driving on Wednesday morning, as there's a very good chance of a flash freeze and black ice.

At 6 p.m. on Tuesday night, temperatures were 46 degrees in Ellsworth and Bar Harbor and 38 degrees in Brewer with lots of water on the ground from the rain all day. Temperatures Downeast are supposed to drop throughout the night and it will be windy with temperatures in the lower 20s.

On Wednesday, Downeast the highs are only supposed to be in the upper 20s so all the water on the ground will freeze overnight and in the morning.

Wednesday night it will continue to be cold, with temperatures dipping down to 18 degrees Downeast with clear skies and Northwesterly winds 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 40 miles per hour.
