Forecasters are predicting a significant snow event for Monday night through Tuesday.

The National Weather Service is calling for the potential of a strong system with abundant precipitation. Inland areas are expected to top six inches of snow.

A winter storm watch has been issued for northern Maine, with seven inches of snow expected early Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, forecasters are predicting 4 inches in the Bangor area before it changes to rain with up to a foot in mountain areas. Downeast is expected to see the snow mix with rain, and turn to all rain Tuesday.
