Skeletal Human Remains Found in Caribou Identified
Officials are now working to identify skeletal human remains, found Sunday in Caribou.
UPDATE: The Chief Medical Examiner's Office has positively identified the remains as Kurtis Madore. The 31-year-old has been missing since June 2, 2019.
According to Caribou Police, a local man was out for a walk on Sunday when he found the remains in a small wooded area off Route 161. He called police to report the discovery, resulting in several agencies traveling to the scene including: members of the Maine State Police Major Crimes unit; the Evidence Response Team; K9 cadaver dogs; along with members of the Maine Warden Service; Office of the Chief Medical Examiner; and Caribou Police. The remains were taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's office, where they will be identified and a cause of death determined.

Officials say that it was nearly 2 years ago when 31-year-old Kurtis Madore went missing in the Caribou area. However, they are not speculating on the identify of the deceased, but will wait for the results from the Medical Examiner.
We'll update this story when more details become available.
This is the second set of skeletal remains found in Maine in the past few weeks. Earlier this month, a family was clearing out their father's property, after his death, when they made the grisly discovery in a shed. Those remains were also sent to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office, where the identity and cause of death are still pending. Officials say the brothers who found the remains have a sister they have not heard from in quite some time, although a missing person report was never filed. Her last known address was at her father's home in Casco.
