Memorial Day. A day on which those who died in active military service are remembered.  If you are in the Skowhegan area on Monday, here is the information for their Memorial Day Parade, from the Skowhegan Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Skowhegan Memorial Day Parade is back again this year at 10:00 AM  The parade is to honor those we have lost during a day of remembrance and will feature local veterans, local legislators and local groups in support of veterans.

The parade will be followed by a short ceremony at Skowhegan Veterans Park on Water Street.

The lineup for the parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Dyer Street which is off Madison Avenue in Skowhegan. If your group is interested in marching or riding to show support for our veterans, please let organizers know ahead of time.  Sign up in advance here.

The parade route will begin at the intersection of Dyer Street and Madison Avenue (Route 201) and turn left heading south towards downtown Skowhegan.  The parade will then take a left onto Water Street and travel through the downtown ending at Skowhegan Veterans Park.

Additional event parking and float parking is available at the Catholic Church just past the park on Water Street.

Traffic will be stopped for the parade on the corresponding streets during the parade. This is a rain or shine event.
