Hey Ladies! Wanna Slap On Some Skates And Get A Little Rowdy?

From the crowd, roller derby looks pretty fun. I kind of like to watch people get tough with each other in a controlled environment. And in roller derby, they get pretty freakin' tough. there's all sorts of pushing, shoving, throwing, elbows... you name it. I've seen a few of the bruises friends of mine have walked away with over the years, and it ain't pretty.

At the end of the month on September 29th from 5:00p.m. - 6:30p.m., Central Maine Roller Derby is going to be hosting a meet and greet event at the OldTown/Orono YMCA for folks who are interested in learning more about the sport. Maybe you've been thinking about it and didn't know where to start If so, this is your chance.

They're inviting women who want to participate on teams, as well as men and women to be referees. They'll also have folks there to answer questions, demonstrate a run, plus lots of gear to try on and take a spin around the track yourself. Might as well get a little trial by fire!
