Z107.3's This Week In Pop Music History!

May 27th - June 2nd : See how Usher, 50 Cent, Taylor Swift, Ja Rule, The Spice Girls and Hootie & The Blowfish marked this week in history for pop music from the past 30 years.

1995 - Hootie & The Blowfish

The Southern group finally hits #1 with their album Cracked Rear View, after the album was released 10 months before.  It spends 8 weeks at #1.

1998 - The Spice Girls

The Spice World mourns as Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) announces her departure from the British girl group.  19 years later in 2017, Halliwell apologizes for leaving the group in a tweet.

1999 - Ja Rule

The rapper releases his debut album Venni Vetti Vecci, featuring the hit song "Holla Holla".

Here he is at the Cross Insurance Center in April for the I Love the 2000s show.  NSFW language!

2004 - Usher

The smooth singer and dancer is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Burn".  But he's not done with being #1 quite yet in this decade...

2010 - Usher

He's back... now with mega-producer, artist and everything-else-guy WILL.I.AM.  Usher is now #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "OMG".  The song is so popular it becomes the MTV News'  #1 song of the year.

2013 - Taylor Swift

This week in 2013 the Swifter poses for a photo with a naughty DJ that ends up in court.  While posing for the picture, the DJ touches Swift on her bum, which was not appreciated or welcomed.  The suit ends up costing the DJ his job, reputation, and a symbolic $1.

2014 - 50 Cent

The rapper has a little fun while everybody watches in horror as he throws the first pitch at a Mets game.  It wasn't brag worthy.
