It's been a terrible flu season, especially in Penobscot County.  Check out this map of each counties' new cases since October from the Portland Press Herald.  Penobscot County has been flooded with the virus since at least October, with increased cases most weeks since November. Here's what the nation's activity level looks like for Influenza-like Illness according to the CDC.

If you have been struck then you know how important it is to teach your kiddos what you steps you can take to prevent getting the flu.

Saturday, January 20th the Maine Discovery Museum and Eastern Maine Medical Center have partnered together to teach kids how germs work and to learn ways to keep yourself healthy.

The event will be taking place at the Maine Discovery Museum this Saturday, January 20th, from 1 PM - 4 PM.  Have them bring their teddy bears for a check up while they investigate the invisible virus trail, learn tips to keep themselves safe during flu season as well as meet EMMC Pediatric Primary Care's Dr. Colette Sabbagh.

The event is free with admission to the museum and will include face painting, healthy snacks and a take-home goodie bag.
