What to Expect for Construction This Year Around Bangor

With #touristseason comes #constructionseason here in Maine and we are just ramping up for congested roadways for the Bangor area.

Here is a list of projects that the Maine DOT have planned this year and what you can plan on working around for the months to come.

Summary: There will be more paving on Interstate 95 from Bangor to Alton.  There also looks to be some major attention on Broadway, focusing on the off and on-ramps for I-95 and improvements to Broadway itself.

Interstate 395 -

Bangor and Brewer: Bridge improvements.

Interstate 95 -

Bangor- Broadway Bridge improvements over Route 15; Construct parallel acceleration lane Broadway northbound on-ramp; Roadway and intersection safety improvements on Broadway, starting at Center Street, including intersection improvements at north and southbound Interstate 95 ramps.

Bangor- Extend Interstate 95 southbound Exit No. 185 (Broadway) on-ramp acceleration lane.

Pittsfield to T2 R8 NWP- Interstate 95: bridge protective coating; Including municipalities of Bangor, Carmel, Etna, Hampden, Howland, Newburgh, Newport, Old Town, Orono, Palmyra, Pittsfield, Plymouth, T2 R8 NWP.

Bangor to Alton- Interstate 95 Highway paving; Including the municipalities of Bangor, Veazie, Orono, Old Town, Alton.

Airports

Bangor International Airport - Bangor: Safety and infrastructure improvements that may include design and reconstruction of taxiways.

Road Work

Bangor- Finson Road: Beginning at Finson Road and extending south 0.38 of a mile, construction of a pedestrian/bicycle trail, on road.

Bangor- Route 202/ Perry Road Bridge over Perry Road: Wall seat repair.

Bangor/Hampden- US 202/Perry Road: bridge upgrading bridge rail on three bridges.

Bangor to Levant- Drainage maintenance: ditching, repairing and replacing culverts beginning at the Davis Road in Bangor to the intersection of Avenue Road in Levant; Including municipalities of Bangor, Glenburn, Hermon, Levant.

Bangor- State Street: Highway construction and rehabilitation beginning at Hancock Street and extending nearly a mile to Hogan Road.

Bangor/Glenburn/Hermon/Levant- Route 222: Highway paving, safety and spot; Improvements at intersection of Route 222 and Fourteenth Street, Bangor.

Bangor- Maine Avenue- Paving beginning at Johnson Street towards Venture Way, paving beginning at Venture Way toward Hammond Street.

Bangor- Ohio Street: Safety and spot improvements, traffic signals at intersection of Ohio Street and Fourteenth Street.

Bangor- Hogan Road: Design for diverging diamond interchange on Hogan Road/ I-95 Exit 187 and Hogan Road/ I-95 Bridge over I-95.

Newport to Old Town: I95 Maintenance and signage.
