Severe Thunderstorms Possible In Bangor Area Monday Afternoon

The National Weather Service is calling for the possibility of severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon in the Bangor area and much of central Maine.

In a special weather statement issued Monday morning, forecasters are calling for strong to severe thunderstorms mainly after 4 p.m. on Monday. Some of those storms may contain large hail and damaging winds. The warning is in effect until 9 p.m.

The forecast also is calling for "dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning" and heavy rainfall.
