The fall-centered event began Thursday but goes until Saturday. It is recommended that you reserve your spot at the restaurant for parties of 5 or more people.
Typical Oktoberfest celebrations occur as a kind of replication of the official Oktoberfest that happen in Munich, Germany, where two weeks in the fall, ending on the first Sunday of October. There are games, music, German food like pretzels, sausage and sauerkraut, and, of course, beer. The celebration is meant to be a coming together of people to just have a good time.
The Club Marina and Bar opened a few months ago and takes the spot of the old Stockton Harbor Yacht Club. The owner grew up cooking in Harpswell at her mother's restaurant and brings the joy of making and serving food to this new establishment as explained in a recent interview with the PenBay Pilot in August.
