Democrat and freshman Congressman, Jared Golden wants politicians to not get a paycheck if the government shuts down.

According to the Portland Press Herald, three freshmen Congressmen (Jared Golden - D, Dan Crenshaw, Texas - R and Max Rose, New York - D) think that if government workers don't get paid, neither should the actual government.

The government was just opened after a record 5 week shut down...but it's only open for three weeks and it could be shut down again.

The Press Herald reports:

The proposal would put the daily pay of the president, vice president, and members of Congress in escrow for each day a government shutdown is in effect. Once the government is reopened, the withheld pay would be released.

To get this passed it has to go through a huge process and get everyone's approval. The chances of it getting derailed are pretty good. But the fact that some in congress recognize that the shutdown hurts real working Americans is at least a thought in the right direction.

Let's hope that it doesn't come to that. It would be great if everyone could just keep the government open - we'll work on getting it working later...
