Plan On A Maine Harvest Moon The Night Of Friday The 13th
Let's hope for a clear night!
The full moon closest to the autumn equinox, which this year is Monday, September 23rd, has been forever called a "harvest moon." Nothing real special about it, other than farmers used to take to the fields to use the light of the moon to harvest their crops.
Feel free to do the same. Pick those apples that night, just be careful climbing the ladder.
Friday night the 13th, we'll have a full moon, and here in Maine it will officially peak and illuminate the sky just after midnight, at 12:33 a.m. on Saturday. A full moon happens on a Friday the 13th about once every twenty years.
Hope the 13th will bring you good luck, as opposed to what legend says about bad, and the crops that you harvest will be robust and plentiful!
