Looking for an event for the whole family, that has some learning for the kids attached to it, but they will not realize the event is educational. They will remember it as fun.

Saturday June 26th , which will be the first Saturday of summer, will also be 2021 Family Fun Day.  This is an event put on by the Penobscot County Conservation Association. PCCA is a volunteer organization formed in 1928 to promote and preserve our sporting heritage and wildlife in Penobscot County. This event had to be cancelled last year due to the Pandemic, but it’s back.

The event was designed for families to learn about land and wildlife conservation. Kids will learn to tie a fly, use a fly rod, and take a ride up the Penobscot River in a canoe. The event runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Penobscot County Conservation Association event takes place at 570 N. Main Street in Brewer.

Shannon Richard of the PCCA says:

Kids will learn about fly fishing, tying flies, there is an air rifle range, Maine Game Wardens will be there to chat. The Maine Trappers Association will be there as well. Lunch is provided. We do accept donations but it is a free event.

So kids will learn something, and have a good time too. Have fun all, and who knows who you might see on a Saturday in a canoe with a fish.
