The Bangor area is super excited to see one of our very own talented young ladies is going to be representing the state of Maine in the Miss USA pageant for next year's national competition.

Julia Van Steenberghe of Old Town was crowned Miss Maine USA on November 10th in South Portland.  Julia will move on to represent the State of Maine at the national Miss USA pageant taking place next spring in 2020.

Julia responded on her Facebook page by thanking everybody who has supported her on her journey to winning this title:

The latest Miss Maine USA winner stated in her post:

"No number of "thank you's" will ever be enough. To each and every person who reached out before, during and after pageant weekend, I cannot explain how much your support and kind words meant and mean to me."

According to the Bangor Daily News, Van Steenberghe is a Presidential Scholar at the University of Maine, majoring in both elementary education and child development and family relationships.  She graduated in 2016 from Old Town High School with honors and had accomplishments during her high school career that included being class president for all four years of high school, student council president and taking part in different sports.

Good luck to you, Julia, and we are honored to have you represent our community and state!
