Families in Eastern Maine will soon have a new option for indoor play! And let's face it, as most parents will agree, in the state that sees just three months of decent weather a year, any place where kids can get their energy out inside is a very welcome thing.

Urban Air Adventure Park announced this week that they plan to open an indoor adventure center in the Airport Mall building off Union Street, in Bangor. According to the Urban Air website, they plan to use the almost 42,000 square feet of space to offer families safe and exciting ways to get exercise and play.

"From wall-to-wall trampolines, dodgeball courts, obstacle courses, to tube playgrounds with multi-level climbing ropes and twisting tubes, both thrill-seekers and their pint-sized counter-parts will find an activity to conquer at Urban Air."

The Urban Air Bangor facility, like many of their other franchises across the nation, also will feature some other attractions "such as an intense ropes course, and the one-of-a-kind Urban Air Sky Rider Indoor Coaster. " Also mentioned were a Drop Zone, a Runway Tumble Track "that offers flexibility to those who flip, handspring and cartwheel down its track", a Slam Dunk Zone and The Urban Warrior Course™, and Battle Beam, for those who like to compete.

The company's founder says facilities like the one planned for Bangor offer parents a tech-free/screen-free option to entertain their kids.

The website also claims when the new Urban Air Bangor site opens, it will create almost 60 new jobs for folks in the area.

The company already operates a facility in South Portland.

The Bangor facility is slated to open some time this spring.
