Mainers Love Pickles More Than Any Other State

I love pickles more than the average woman. I have vivid memories of myself as a tot trying to pry open the fridge so I could sneak a kosher dill pickle before dinner. I know, most kids want to sneak candy or ice cream but I'm kind of a weirdo and I think we all know that by now.

My friends know that this love of pickles has continued into my adult years. My shot of choice is a pickleback and we know it takes a special kind of sicko to enjoy those!

The site Zippia is always conducting very important surveys and their latest study ranked all of the 50 states based on their love of pickles.

And guess who earned the #1 spot!? Well, you already know because you read the headline but MAINE! MAINERS LOVE PICKLES AND THEY WANT TO SHOUT IT FROM THE MOUNTAINTOPS!

And right behind Maine is another New England state, Vermont came in at #2! New Hampshire is #13, which is fine, I guess. I would have loved to see us in the top ten but there's always room for improvement.

So how did Zippia determine who loves salty cucumbers the most? With very important data!

They found how many people are asking for an extra pickle when the go out to eat. (I am totally that person). They looked at each state's google searches and who is looking for the most pickle related recipes! They checked out which states are growing the most cucumbers for production aka pickling. With this data it was easy to determine the most pickle loving states.

Since I am so passionate about pickles and pride myself on my pickle knowledge I'd like to dispute some of their findings.

The state of New York came it at #42 which seems inaccurate. Have you ever been to a New York deli? New York Delis and the people that go there are all about pickles. They can't get enough!

Same goes for Florida, which came in at #48. Florida is home to many snowbirds who hail from New York. This is why there are so many New York deli's in the West Palm Beach, Boca Raton area. And as we covered, New York delis and pickles tend to go hand in hand.

Alright, I've said my pickle piece. I am proud of Maine for loving pickles the most. Maybe if we all start ordering extra pickles when we go out to eat, we too could be the most pickle loving state one day. #PickleGoals
