Which Maine City Says “Cheers to Beers?”

Today is National Drink Beer Day, so what better time to raise a glass to one Maine city that has earned a spot among the best beer cities in America?

Craft beer has taken the world by storm, and Maine is certainly no exception. When Tasting Table, a digital media company focused on food and drink, set out to rank the best beer-loving cities in the United States, one city here in the 207 made the cut.

Tasting Table covers food and drink trends across categories including dining, wine, cocktails, cooking and food travel. For this ranking, the cities were evaluated based on factors including breweries per capita, bars per capita, beer-tasting tours offered and the average cost of a beer.

It comes as no surprise that Portland, Maine, landed so high on the list. The city is well known for its incredible craft beer scene and has even earned the nickname “Beervana.”

Portland is home to nationally recognized breweries including Allagash Brewing Company, Bissell Brothers Brewing Company and Rising Tide Brewing Company. Together, they offer a wide variety of beer styles, from IPAs and pale ales to stouts, sours and Belgian-inspired beers.

The city also hosts beer festivals throughout the year, including the Portland Beer Festival and the Maine Brewers' Festival.

And perhaps one of the best things about Portland's beer scene is how easy it is to explore. Thanks to the city's relatively compact size, visitors can enjoy many of its breweries and beer destinations on foot or by bike.

So, on National Drink Beer Day, here's a look at the 15 cities that made Tasting Table's list:

1. Asheville, North Carolina

2. Pensacola, Florida

3. Las Vegas, Nevada

4. Portland, Maine

5. Greenville, South Carolina
