UPDATE: In some ways it wasn't as bad as we thought, but the ice has been kinda crazy. Hopefully no repeats of 1998! But... the temps are also going to nosedive tonight, possibly below zero in some spots, so roads could be a bit dicey tonight. Be careful out there!

A "messy, long-lived" winter storm is expected to bring snow, freezing rain, and sleet to much of Maine late this week.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a messy winter storm expected to impact much of the state midday Thursday, into late Friday. Forecasters are calling for as much as half a foot of snow for the Bangor area, with higher amounts further north. Coastal areas are expected to see less snow, with freezing rain and sleet.

Forecasters say there's still uncertainty with the track of the storm. We'll update this story as more info becomes available.
