Extreme wind gusts are wreaking havoc across the state, with more than 120,000 Mainers without power and many roads closed on Friday morning.

Emera Maine reports 51,636 customers were without power and 82,450 Central Maine Power customers as of 4 p.m. Friday. Crews are out, working to get it back on. Mainers are reminded not to attempt to clear lines themselves, but let the professionals do it. Anyone with a generator should make sure they've hooked it up, per the factory specs, to avoid any injury to line workers.

The storm is causing some schools and businesses to close for the day. Check our cancellation list often, for updates.
