So what's it gonna be?

A Trader Joe's?  A Sonic?  Another Olive Garden?

Early last year, Key Bank customers received a letter in the mail that the branch at 5 Parkway South in Brewer would be closing for good, which it eventually did on Friday, May 21st.  At that point, Key Bank combined their operation in Brewer with their operations at 5 Water Street in Downtown Bangor.

Since then folks traveling up and down Wilson Street wondered what would eventually move into the space at the corner of Parkway South and Wilson.  Today, we have the answer.

First National Bank.

In a press release dated October 21, 2021, Samantha Glaude, who is the Marketing Coordinator for First National Bank, announced that the organization has completed its lease agreement of 5 Parkway South in Brewer, for its newest full-service branch office.

Brewer will now be First National Bank’s second branch location in Penobscot County, joining their Bangor location at 82 Hancock Street. The Brewer branch of First National Bank is expected to open sometime during the first quarter of 2022.

“First National Bank is elated to expand into the Brewer community,” stated Tony C. McKim, President, and CEO of FNB. “We’re deeply committed to serving individuals, families, and businesses throughout Penobscot County.”

We've polled our listeners in the past as to what sort of businesses that they'd like to see come to the Bangor area, and popular restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Golden Corral, and Panera Bread led the way.  Residents of the area also expressed the desire for Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe's.
