
One of Maine’s Most Popular Halloween Attractions Is Closing
After several seasons of screams, scares, and unforgettable nights in the dark, Farmington Fright Fest is closing its doors. This year, its three haunted attractions will not be returning.
The event was voted one of the scariest Halloween attractions in the State of Maine, earning a reputation for delivering plenty of scares and memorable nights for Halloween fans.
Since 2021, Farmington Fright Fest has featured three spine-tingling weekends of terror that local thrill-seekers looked forward to every year. For many, it became a Halloween tradition and a must-visit attraction in western Maine.
Kind of a bummer, right? Thankfully, there are still plenty of spooky spots throughout New England, including some great options right here in the Bangor area.

Maineiac Manor is located in the former Hollister location in the Bangor Mall, directly across from Spencer's. The 6,500-square-foot attraction has become a destination for anyone looking for a good scare.
Its success has extended beyond Halloween, with a Krampus-themed Christmas haunted house each December. Now, Maineiac Manor plans to offer a regular schedule of creepy events and seasonal fun throughout the year.
When you visit, you'll encounter mesmerizing sets, handmade props, and actors in killer costumes hiding in the shadows—and sometimes right out in plain sight—ready to pop out and scare the life out of you.
And don't sleep on New Hampshire.
Haunted Overload, located in Lee, is one of the most distinctive haunted attractions in New England. It's an enormous outdoor experience built directly into the landscape, featuring gigantic homemade monsters, elaborate structures, eerie lighting, and larger-than-life Halloween scenery.
It's very different from a traditional haunted house. Instead of walking from room to room, you're moving through an entire outdoor world of enormous creatures and elaborate sets. The sheer scale is part of what makes Haunted Overload so memorable—and definitely worth the drive for serious Halloween fans.
