Bradley Mill To Kick Off Season With Live Demos/Exhibits In June

I remember, as a school kid, one of the coolest field trips everyone looked forward to each year was a visit to Leonard's Mills in Bradley. It was like stepping back in time.

For those who have never been, Leonard's Mills is the site of one of the early pioneer settlements in Maine. It features a water powered sawmill and "an authentic reconstruction of a logging and milling community of the 1790s."

Often a destination of school groups and family outings, visitors can see everything from a gas Lombards and similar vehicles and tools that would have been used during that time period, to some of the wildlife still in the area, like alewives.

According to the Maine Forest and Logging Museum's Facebook page, this year Leonard's Mills will be opening to the public for the season in June. The spring kickoff event Saturday will be held June 5th. Folks can stop by any time from 11AM to 3PM. Organizers have stacked the day full of fun events for all ages. There is an admission fee, unless you're a member. Then you can get in for free.

The Axewoman Loggers of Maine will be on hand, doing demonstrations all day long. They'll have a Blacksmith on site for folks to check out.

And if that wasn't enticing enough, the Spencer's Ice Cream Truck will be on hand, in case you want to buy yourself a tasty treat.
