The Capehart neighborhood holds about 3,000 residents, and many of them are kids looking for something to do, especially during the warm months of the year.

The Bangor Planning Board will decide tonight if it will allow the Bangor Housing Authority to build a new playground, splash pad and basketball court at Downeast Circle off Davis Road and in the heart of Capehart.  The meeting takes place at 7  p.m. Tuesday at Bangor City Hall at 73 Harlow Street.

Adults there have longed for a place like this for their children, complaining that places like the city's swimming pools are miles away.

This will be the second time that the planning board will decide on the issue, they initially turned it down back in June with concerns about noise. A skate park was initially proposed, and that has been deleted from the new proposal. Trees and landscaping has also been added that would cut down on any noise.

The feds would cover the $500,000 cost that it would take to construct the new park.
