Bangor Fight Starts When Passenger Refuses To Close Bus Window

Bangor Police say a local man faces charges after causing an altercation that allegedly started when he refused to close his window on the bus.

It was around 12:18 p.m. on Monday when police responded to a report of an agitated bus passenger in Pickering Square. A few Community Connector employees were trying to subdue the man, who was later identified as Charles Pell, 54, of Bangor.

Witnesses said Pell allegedly became agitated after all the passengers on the bus were asked to close their windows. Pell allegedly refused to shut his window and became combative. A struggle ensued, and police say Pell allegedly assaulted three people before officers arrived on the scene.

Police took Pell into custody and placed him in the cruiser, where they say he used force to break the plastic divider (window) between the front and back seats. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he was charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault, and one felony count of criminal mischief.

Police say no weapons were used and no one was seriously injured.
