The Maine State Police have scheduled the annual Drug Take Back day for Saturday, April 28th for locations throughout Maine.

The Take Back Day is a way for the public to dispose of old medications in a safe, anonymous way.  Acceptable medications include controlled, non-controlled and other over the counter substances.

The Facebook Event gives more points to their Take Back guidelines including:

  • medication can be disposed in it's original container or without.  Do remove your identifying information.
  • Liquid meds are acceptable, but there are specific guidelines to checkout in order to dispose these.
  • Syringes, IV solutions, injectables are not accepted.
  • They are not accepting illicit substances like marijuana or methamphetamines.

You can bring your medications to dispose from 10 AM to 2 PM in the following locations around the Bangor area: Bangor Police Department, Veazie Police Department, Airport Mall, Orono Bells IGA, Brewer Police Department, Hampden Police Department and Holden Police Department.
