I'm a firm believer that one of the best things you can give your kids is time. And taking time to make good memories, while maybe learning a thing or two along the way, is always a plus.

Last year, I got to take a little time off when the kids were on their Christmas Vacation and decided to take them on a little day trip. Someone suggested we take a trip to check out a local farm. Animals are always a big hit at my house, so this was right up our alley. After checking around online, we came across a website for the Blue Alpaca Ranch in Belfast.

We called and set up a time for a tour with Ben Cowan, who helps run the ranch. I packed up the crew and headed out.

We were the only family there and we were outside, so there wasn't an issue of having to keep on top of social distancing. (Trying to herd 4 kids from place to place, while keeping on top of their masks and distance from others can get a mom pretty anxious, so it was really nice to be able to be in a situation where the worry was low, and I could enjoy the moment.)

Ben did a great job giving us a tour of the grounds, explaining the ins and outs of life with Alpacas and was so patient with all of the questions.

The animals were as curious about us as we were interested in them. And they didn't mind us getting close and reaching out. It was cool.

It was a fun day for sure. Take a look at the pictures we took!
