Spring has sprung, so it's time to get cleaned up, Bangor!

The City of Bangor has released infomation regaurding cleanup info for the Spring of 2023.

Here is how the city will help you will spring cleaning activities:

• A place for residents to drop off branches, brush, plants/weeds, and leaf waste
• Roadside pickup service to residents to haul away fallen branches and trees
• Roadside pickup service to residents to haul away scrap metal
• Referrals to residents who have other waste for disposal

Branches, Brush, Plants/Weeds, and Leaf Waste

You can bring your brush, branches, plant waste, and leaves to the organic disposal site at the Public Works facility at 530 Maine Avenue. However, you must have a permit, which can be obtained at no charge at the Public Works office between 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The yard waste drop-off is open 7 days/week from 7:00 am to sunset.

Roadside Pickup – Branches & Brush

Bangor Public Works employees will go house to house to pick up fallen branches. Gather it up and place it at your curb no later than 6:30 am on May 1, 2023. Be sure that you don't stack it around your household trash bin.

Roadside Pickup – Scrap Metal
Public Works employees will go house to house to pick up scrap metal. This includes washers, dryers, charcoal grills. Electronic waste such as TV’s, computer monitors, computers, will not be accepted. Place your metal waste at your curb no later than 6:30 am on May 1, 2023.

Leaves
The will NOT be sending crews to pickup leaves. Residents who have leaves to dispose, can do so at Public Works during daylight hours at 530 Maine Ave.

Electronic/Universal Waste

Televisions, monitors, computers, light bulbs, and other electronics will not be picked up. Electronic waste can be disposed of at Casella's Pine Tree Transfer Station located at 358 Emerson Mill Road in Hampden. Residents will be asked to pay for disposed of materials based on weight.

Bulky Waste/Furniture/Demolition Debris

Bulky items such as furniture and demolition debris may be disposed of at Casella's Pine Tree Landfill located at 358 Emerson Mill Road in Hampden. Residents will be asked to pay for disposed of materials based on weight.

Household Garbage

Public Works will not be picking up bagged household garbage that is not in the city waste bins nor do they accept it at Public Works. Casella Waste offers a pickup and disposal service for excess household garbage. Please call them at (207) 862-7111 for more information.

Oil-Based Paints, Varnishes & Polyurethanes

Oil based paints, varnishes & polyurethanes are considered hazardous waste and must be properly disposed of.
