July 29th - August 4th: See how UB40, Christina Aguilera, The Bayside Boys, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Keys marked this week in history for pop music from the past 30 years.

 

1993 - UB40

'90's one hit wonders, UB40, are #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 with their song 'Can't Help Falling In Love With You'.

 

1996 - The Bayside Boys

Originally a song from Los Del Rio, The Bayside Boys records their own version of "Macarena," with hits #1 on the Hot 100, where it stays for 14 weeks.

 

1999 - Christina Aguilera

Christina is joining her fellow Mickey Mouse Club members Justin and Britney on the charts with 'Genie In A Bottle' which is #1 this week in 1999 on Billboard's Hot 100.

 

2003 - Justin Timberlake

SARS hits Toronto and a huge open-air concert is put on to bring business back to the city.  It features big bands like The Rolling Stones, Rush, and, our man, Justin Timberlake who rocks a trucker hat and is killing it on the keys.

 

2010- Alicia Keys

The New York City R&B singer/songwriter travels to Corsica to marrie the producer Swizz Beatz (Kasseem Dean).  She is also pregnant with their first child, Egypt.

 

2016 - Justin Timberlake

JT is bringing history back on our list with two events this week in pop music history.

The first ever Decade Award is given out at the Teen Choice Awards. JT is the first receiver of the award and gives a speech to encourage teenagers everywhere regarding tolerance and embracing differences.
