Her mother died of breast cancer at age 30, when Madonna was 5 years old.
She was a straight-A student in high school
Received a dance scholarship to the University of Michigan
She dropped out of college in 1978 and went to New York City to get her dance career going.
Once she got going with her singing career, Madonna struck it really big with her 2nd album Like A Virgin, which set the record of the first solo female album to sell 5 million copies in the United States.
In 1985 she starred in one of her more popular roles in the movies in Desperately Seeking Susan.
Other records she has broken in her career include her album True Blue achieving the best-selling album by a woman of all time in the 1992 Guinness World Records, the highest-attended female concert of all time in Paris, France in 1987, the best-selling compilation album by a solo artist in history of her The Immaculate Collection album, and, at one time, the highest grossing documentary of all time with her film Truth or Dare
The 80's was Madonna's big decade and even got 'Artist of the Decade' by MTV, Billboard and Musician magazine.
Started the record label Maverick which went on to produce albums for Alanis Morissette and Michelle Branch.
She won a Golden Globe in 1996 for her role in the movie Evita for Best Actress in Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
She also won four Grammy Awards for her album Ray of Light, a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album for her album Confessions on a Dance Floor.
She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
She is the wealthiest woman in the music business and has sold 300 million records around the world.
