Get the Kids Out On The Ice For A Fun and Memorable Fishing Day In Brewer This Sunday
Get the kids into the Great Maine Outdoors this weekend for Youth Ice Fishing Day in Brewer.
The Penobscot County Conservation Association is hosting their annual 'Youth Ice Fishing Day' event this Sunday, February 20 with a day of winter fishing starting at 9 AM. This 5-hour event will be a free day of fishing for kids ages toddler to 15. The event will be taking place at the Penobscot County Conservation Association's headquarters at LeVasseur Pond in Brewer on North Main Street.
Bring the kids and have a good time
Parents can let the experts do their thing since experienced sportspeople will be on-hand to monitor and teach your kids if you lack experience in this skill. They will be providing the bait and equipment as well as have spots on the pond with pre-drilled holes and pre-placed ice fishing traps.
A donation to the club can get you a warm beverage and snacks while at the event.

Advice on fishing with kids
Here are some pointers for you and the kids get to get the most out of this day, from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife:
- Take it easy, relax and get your mind in a place of patience
- Make it fun and give the kiddos kudos for being patient and cooperative
- Start simple to avoid unnecessary frustration
- Use your trip as a teaching opportunity and let the kiddos do things themselves instead of doing it all yourself
Here's a few things you may need if you plan on doing more ice fishing before the ice is gone for the season.
