Welcome To Maine Explains The ‘Maine Accent’
These guys are a wicked pissah bub!
A couple of good ol' boys named Troy and Mark, consider themselves to be the ultimate Maine Tourism Guides, fella. They know everything about the Pine Tree State, and have a Facebook page and YouTube channel devoted to getting you acquainted with what make us Mainers tick!
Actually, it turns out that Tory and Mark are actually comedians, James Theberge and Ian Stuart. You can see them perform on The Maine Comedy All-Stars shows, and at various places across the state.
In their latest episode, they educate the flatlanders from away on the good ol' Maine accent. It’s pretty funny, considering that since I am in radio, I’ve been trying to lose my mine for years, but every once in awhile, it slips out. They contend that the Maine accent is more sophisticated and attractive than other New England accents, which must be true, because in a recent national publication, it was voted the 4th sexiest in the entire nation. Amazing, but true. And of course as any Mainer knows, the secret to the perfect Maine accent, is replacing the e and r at the end of a word, with the letters a and h.
The also recently did a video about their New Year’s Resolutions, and I actually laughed out loud, when they went through their lists, and one of them turned out to be a shopping list for Reny’s!
Welcome To Maine has made trips to fun Maine locations, including Portland’s iconic Old Port, our pride & joy, the Paul Bunyan statue, the Moxie store, and the B&M Baked Bean factory
