Watch Air Force One Land In Bangor [VIDEO]

Bangor got a very rare and cool treat this past Friday!

On Friday, President Donald Trump visited two Maine towns. Before he made his stop in Guilford at Puritan Medical Products, which is a manufacturer of swabs that are used in COVID-19 testing, Trump landed at Bangor International Airport, on Air Force One, at around 1:50pm.

The visit brought hundreds of people hoping to catch a glimpse of The Donald, but there were also protestors. A rally for racial equality was held in memory of the death of George Floyd. President Trump was greeted by former Maine Governor Paul LePage. and was followed by a commercial fishermen's forum.

Air Force One is the official air traffic control call sign for a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the president of the United States The idea of designating specific military aircraft to transport the President came about in 1943, when officials of the United States Army Air Forces, the predecessor to the U.S. Air Force, became concerned about using commercial airlines for safe presidential travel.

The "Air Force One" moniker created in 1953, after a Lockheed Constellation named Columbine II carrying President Dwight D. Eisenhower entered the same airspace as a commercial airline flight using the same flight number.

You may also remember the Harrison Ford 1997 action-thriller film “Air Force One” The movie is about a group of terrorists who hijack Air Force One and the U.S. president's attempt to rescue everyone onboard by retaking his plane.
