If you have never been to one of the University of Maine's Clean Sweep Sales, you have no idea what you're missing. And as much as I don't want to share this information with you because I want to keep all the deals to myself, I will, for the greater good, divulge this year's date.

What is the Clean Sweep Sale, you ask? Well, after all the students have left for the year, and all the dorms are cleaned out (hence the name 'Clean Sweep') the University gathers all the stuff that was either left behind, donated or that they have in surplus or plan to replace, and they sell it, giant yard sale style, at the Alfond Arena.

It's amazing! I can tell you from personal experience, because currently 80% of the bedroom furniture in my house came from past Clean Sweep sales, that most of the stuff they sell there, at least furniture wise, is built to take a beating. With a little paint, you can personalize it to your taste.

And what's even better than the fact that you can get cool stuff at a great deal, is that you not only help the environment by reusing stuff, but you help future students by buying this stuff at this sale. According to the UMaine Bodwell Center's FB page, " All of the money generated from this sale will be used to support students either by purchasing food for the food pantry or purchasing supplies for student volunteers projects and programs."

This year's Clean Sweep Sale will be held Friday May 24th, from 11AM-5PM and Saturday May 25th from 8AM to 1PM.
