
Two Maine Restaurants Made A ‘Best Of 2024′ New York Times List
An impressive honor for two Maine establishments!
When the iconic New York Times recognizes you, someone is doing something right, especially when it comes to year end lists.
They decided to do a piece on "Best Dishes We Ate Across the U.S. in 2024" Not a bad gig, huh?
After several months of traveling to more than 30 states and sampling dishes in hundreds of restaurants all across America, they chose 26 of their favorites. For sure, this was no easy task.
From soups to sweets, from entrees to sandwiches, or yummy apps, so many left a lasting impression on the folks from the New York Times, who were lucky enough to taste these amazing creations.
The fact that a Maine restaurant make would this list is pretty incredible, but two dishes from two different businesses made the cut!
We all know that here in the 207, there are some top notch restaurants, but Portland is far and away, one of the ultimate destinations in all of New England for fine dining, with endless options to choose from.
Here are the two dishes selected by the New York Times:
Tuna de Tigre at Mr. Tuna-83 Middle Street, Portland
This tasty delight is a wooden bowl, with pieces of raw tuna mixed with coconut milk, fried shallots, avocado, scallion, red onion and cilantro.
Mushroom Breakfast Taco at Ocotillo-211 Danforth, Portland
Imagine a mushroom breakfast taco with egg and a flour tortilla on a plate? Well, now you can!
