Where Does Maine Rank On The ‘Best States For Food’ List?

The answer? Pretty darn high!

The website Far & Wide encourages travelers of all types to see the world and enjoy adventures. What comes to mind when you are away from home, enjoying a relaxing vacation? Food, of course!

They put together the enviable task of listing the best states for food in the United States, not a bad gig.

When it comes to the Pine Tree State on this countdown, we ranked incredibly high.

Maine was 10th out of the 50 states, which is impressive, but when Far & Wide listed the reason why, it was a little surprising

Does anyone else think lobster is kind of overrated? It’s expensive — like, really expensive — and often lacking in flavor. Sometimes it feels like eating butter-poached paper towels.

So how could lobster-happy Maine have the 10th-best food scene in the U.S.?

It contains wild blueberries, tons of non-lobster seafood, the Seven-Napkin Burger, Whoopie Pies and Portland, the small city with a huge culinary scene. That’s how.

Obviously, we don't agree with the first part of that statement. People come all over the world for our famous Maine Lobster, so that was a little silly, but it is pretty cool to crack the Top 10.

As for the other pleasures they listed, let's break them down:

Maine Blueberry Facts-We produce 25% of the world's blueberries, with 44,000+ acres of blueberry fields, which makes the blueberry industry worth $250 million annually. And they are pretty damn tasty too.

The Seven Napkin Burger-You can find the famous Seven Napkin Burger at the Owls Head General Store in Maine. Named Maine's Best Burger by the Food Network, it is known for being insanely juicy, literally falling apart in your hands.

Maine Whoopie Pies-A classic treat that's been around since 1925! You can find these delicious desserts at various bakeries and online stores.

Portland Restaurants-The unique blend of local ingredients, culinary culture, and innovative chefs make Portland restaurants rock.

What about our neighbors? New Hampshire came in at #37, and Massachusetts clocked in at #20
