Everybody has a favorite teacher, right? A good teacher can impart knowledge, and sometimes wisdom, to students, but a truly great teacher can inspire them.

Educate Maine in partnership with the Maine Department of Education is now accepting nominations for the Maine County Teacher of the Year 2017 from each of Maine's 16 counties. But, you'd better hurry if you want to nominate someone. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2017.

Once the 16 County Teachers of the Year have been chosen, eight semi-finalists are selected. The field is narrowed to three state finalists, one of whom will be announced as the 2018 Maine State Teacher of the Year at a surprise school assembly in the fall of 2017.

The Maine State Teacher of the Year represents Maine at the national level and becomes eligible for the National Teacher of the Year award.

Teachers may be nominated by students, parents, teaching colleagues, principals, superintendents or anyone from the community. You can nominate someone by clicking below.
