Watch This Moose Mosey Through a Maine Mobile Home Park
Now here is something you don't see every day when you look out the window.
A big ol' moose was spotted walking around The Hamlet Mobile Home Park in Westbrook the other day, and a viewer of WGME TV-13, named Laura Coyne, sent them a video of it taking a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood. At first, it was in the middle of the street but eventually wandered into Laura's backyard, as she filmed it all from her front door.
Moose can be seen throughout the state, but their population is greatest in the western lakes and mountains, Kennebec Valley, The Maine Highlands, and Aroostook County. The best times to spot them are at dusk and dawn from mid-May through July and again in the fall during their breeding season, so more than likely this moose was looking for love in all the wrong places. Their mating season in the autumn features energetic fights between males competing for a female.
Most moose are found in Canada, Alaska, and New England, and Maine has the biggest population of the lower 48 states. Their mating season in the autumn features energetic fights between males competing for a female.
Going down an "I saw a moose in Maine" rabbit hole is quite an experience, some of them are quite amusing to watch. Here are a few of our absolute faves, especially the one where a driver spotted one on a mad tear down Interstate 95!
