The legendary watering hole will shut its doors on Sunday.

A popular Downtown Bangor hangout has decided to close for an unspecified amount of time, starting on Sunday, January 1st, 2023.

In a recent post on their Facebook page, ownership stated that they will temporarily shut down, due to constant use of their two private parking lots, and also threats from neighboring businesses and their customers.

It is believed that the closing of The Main Tavern will not be permanent.

This news comes on the heels of Half Acre Night Club, located on Harlow Street in Downtown Bangor, announcing that they have closed their doors, after an 11-year run as the dancing destination in town.

Patrick Brann noted that it wasn't due to pressure from local government, neighbors, or lack of success at the club, he just simply felt it was time to move on.

Change is always a constant in the bar game, so get out and enjoy the last days of The Main Tavern in Downtown Bangor, and who knows what new businesses will pop up in 2023. Only time will tell.
