Watch The Budweiser 9/11 Tribute Commercial That Aired Only Once
This now-iconic commercial never fails to bring a tear although it aired only once, during the Super Bowl of 2002.
There were a lot of tributes and remembrance commercials following the attacks on September 11, 2001. But, in my opinion, one of the best was this commercial that was aired only once, during the very next Super Bowl. I've always admired the folks at Budweiser, and the sweet and often touching commercials that they produce, rather than what's expected of a typical beer commercial. And, with this one ad, they showed good taste, class, and reverence.
On the tenth anniversary of the attacks, Budweiser did an updated version of the commercial. This ad is identical to the original, but with the Freedom Tower at One World Trade Center in New York City clearly on the horizon. While this ad probably played repeatedly, the original aired only once.
It's been 20 years since the September 11 attacks. But, for many of us, it feels like only yesterday. Watching these commercials, I remember the rawness and vulnerability we all felt on that day. Tears came quickly. Hope was hard to come by. Many say our country changed on that day. I'm not sure if I agree with that, but I do believe it changed the way we all feel about national security.
Our hearts are with everyone directly affected by this tragedy, including the first responders who worked tirelessly to save as many people as they could, the survivors, and the families of those who were lost.
We will never forget.
