Dave Chappelle practically quit show-business over the endless association with his viral Chappelle’s Show characters, to the point few presumed we’d ever see them again. Well, it seems we owe The Walking Dead’s frustrating cliffhanger a debt of gratitude, as Chappelle took his SNL hosting as a chance to revive a number of Chappelle’s Show favorites … at least to kill one off.

Heading into its seventh season, The Walking Dead is already at an age when most series would look to start wrapping things up, though its status as AMC’s flagship hit with miles of Robert Kirkman story ahead would make that unlikely. It’s a question sure to plague the AMC series more and more in the coming years, but according to Andrew Lincoln and Scott Gimple, one idea sees Robert Kirkman ending both his long-running comic and the TV Walking Dead simultaneously.

Death on a genre series is increasingly difficult to accept these days, something The Walking Dead learned the hard way in Season 6 when fans easily deduced Glenn’s survival from an apparently-grisly demise. That super fan-sleuthing again reared its head with the Season 6 finale, but series star Lauren Cohan says viewers may be wasting their time picking apart the audio of Negan’s now-famous kill.

Shared universes wouldn’t be any fun without the potential for crossover, but don’t expect Fear The Walking Dead to start jumping time or continents to hook up with Rick Grimes. Season 2 will again stay clear of the main series, according to Fear The Walking Dead showrunner Dave Erickson.
