The Thomas Hill Standpipe has beautiful lights atop her crown for all seasons but somehow Christmastime makes them seem even more beautiful.

There are also a few other differences with the tour coming up on Friday, Dec. 7.  For one the winter tour is earlier in the day running from noon to 3 p.m.  Also rumor has it a jolly old elf will be there looking over the city and sorting out the naughty and nice a bit more up close and personal.

And unless you have reindeer to get you to the top access to the promenade deck is via a 100-step enclosed stairway. The historic structure is not handicap accessible.

Travel on Thomas Hill Road to the standpipe is one-way from Highland Avenue during tours; parking is limited in the immediate area of the standpipe.

Here is what DJ Fred saw a few years ago.
