Spectrum Continues Community Outreach to Bridge Internet Divide in Maine
As you recall, when the pandemic first hit, schools throughout Maine were canceled for the rest of the academic year; Spectrum gave free Internet to homes that didn't have access.
This generous donation of resources was to help children continue their studies and learn online this yea. Well, they've stepped their game up not only continue the free access but they also giving away laptops, 25 of them to be exact, to people doing adult learning online, according to a Facebook post from the Portland mayor:
The Fiber-optic communication provider also brought in a donation of $2,500 to spread around adult education organizations throughout the city, she noted in her post.
This is a time when students are vulnerable as there is not only an education gap, but there is also a technology gap where some rural communities outside of the larger city don't have access to the Internet or a computer.
It's good to see some companies are helping to bridge that gap.
