Think about 136 years. How different the fair might have been when a group of men held the first fair in 1887.

The Milking Parlor was a first in the state at a fair and is currently now one of only two still existing in Maine. That’s there again this year.

Smokey’s Greater Show will run the rides as they have now for many years. The Smokey's Ride Wristbands are $20 per day today, tomorrow and Sunday. And $25 on Saturday.

Expect all the 4-H exhibits, the Farm Horse events, Central Maine Sheep Breeders, Horse Pulling, Ox Pulling, a Flower Show, Arts & Crafts and so much more.

Campsites are available on a first come, first serve basis.

There is a stage show every night. And if you’re an auto fan, on Thursday on the track it’ll be Figure 8.  The original Tough Truck on Friday. It’ll be all-day pulls on Saturday. Tractors, Horses, Ox.

Sunday is Demolition Derby with 5 categories. Small cars (4 cc’s), Big cars, The Powder Puff Women’s derby, and Pro-Mod which is the event for cars that have been modified to the nth degree.

I’ve left the best for last. Food. Yes. Lots of it. Who’s kidding who, there is nothing like fair food. Not only is it calorie-free, it’s guilt-free and it’s fun. Enjoy.  It’s the Piscataquis Valley Fair.
